Other famous inventors, like Thomas A. Edison and Alexander Graham Bell, would follow Ben's lead in trying to find ways to help people live better. His amazing life started in Boston on Sunday, January 17, 1706. He was the ninth of eleven children.  He attended school as a child in Boston for only a few years. His father insisted he learn a trade so he eventually became an apprentice to his brother, James, a printer.

Franklin is credited many inventions and ideas that improved the world around him. There are 3 particular inventions that Ben Franklin is credited with. He is directly responsible for bifocals, the Franklin stove and the lightning rod. An inventor, philosopher & politician; he was the consummate renaissance man.
